How to Install a Die-Cut Decal

Prior to application, ensure that the surface is clean and dust-free by wiping with a clean cloth.
If you are applying to a recently painted wall, it is best to wait 6 weeks for the paint to fully dry/cure. This will ensure a proper bond to your decal.
The application temperature range for most vinyl films is usually between 50⁰ and 90⁰F (10⁰ to 32⁰ C).

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Position and Tape the Decal
Begin by aligning your decal on the wall in the desired position. Use blue painter’s tape to secure the top edge of the decal to the wall. This creates a hinge that will hold the decal in place as you work.

  2. Peel Off the Backing Paper
Slowly peel the backing paper from the decal, starting at the bottom and working upward. Keep the edge tight and close to the wall—avoid pulling it outward or upward.
As you peel, watch carefully to make sure all the letters and elements stay attached to the clear transfer tape, not the backing paper.

  3. Fix Any Lifting Elements
If any part of the decal sticks to the backing paper, roll the tape back into position and press the letter or shape down firmly. You can then resume peeling.
Avoid touching the adhesive side of the vinyl, as the oils from your skin can weaken the adhesive.

  4. Apply the Decal to the Wall
Once the backing paper is removed, gently lay the decal against the wall. Hold the bottom away while you smooth it down from the top to bottom and from the center outward. This technique helps eliminate bubbles and creases.

  5. Press the Decal Firmly
Use a flat, firm tool (like a squeegee or credit card) to rub firmly over the entire surface of the decal. Pay extra attention to the edges of letters and small design elements to ensure everything is fully stuck to the wall.

  6. Remove the Transfer Tape
Start at one corner and slowly peel the transfer tape flat back against itself at a low angle. Do not pull it out and away from the wall.
Watch carefully as you peel—if any vinyl starts lifting with the tape, stop, press it back down firmly, and then continue peeling. You can also hold smaller elements in place with your fingers if needed.

  7. Troubleshooting Tape Removal
If the transfer tape is hard to remove, lightly moisten it with a spray bottle or wet sponge. Be careful not to get water above the top seam of the design, as moisture can seep underneath and loosen the vinyl.
When the tape is fully saturated, it may wrinkle—this is a good sign. Rub over the decal again quickly and try peeling the tape off slowly.

  8. Finishing Touches
Continue removing the transfer tape, taking your time and correcting any lifting as you go.

And that’s it—your decal is applied!
